Gifu city is located in The Central Part of Japan, and Gifu station is is hub of transportation in Gifu. The average number of passengers is thirty thousand per a day. To go to Gifu from Nagoya takes about 15 minutes by train. Since a lot of company based on Nagoya , many Gifu people commute to Nagoya for work.
In response to the Nagoya development, Redevelopment was in progress in the front of Gifu station around 2000. Two high-rise buildings are symbol of the development of Gifu. On the other hand, Gifu city faces the aging population combined with the diminishing number of children as with most of the local cities. And not expected to decrease the population stops.
Although the decrease of population is in progress, Gifu city is relatively bigger than most of the other local cities. Gifu has the advantage of the terrain, that is near Nagoya that is one of the largest city in Japan.
